It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! (Photo Dump)

We both cut down our first ever tree! The pictures of the actual sawing are on Kyle's phone.

This might be one of my all time favorite pictures. Ever.

This tree farm that we found was seriously the cutest. They had puppies and dogs running around, but in a cute controlled way, not in a "why are there dirty dogs all over" kind of a way. They had red barns and tree totes with reindeer names. It was just all very festive and made me happy. To top it all off, the weather was absolutely lovely.

Our tree fit perfectly in our car, which was nice when we left it there to run into the mall, split up, and do some black Friday Christmas shopping.

It is a little slanty, but we love it! We spent a solid chunk of time with the tree outside in the dark trimming extra branches so it would fit in the tree stand. Kyle took a hammer and screwdriver to it. When I acknowledged that that was a much better idea than using a kitchen knife, like I had suggested, he said "Yeah, well, I'm an Eagle Scout." haha.

The watering can was a wedding present. During the spring and summer, it
grew flowers. During the fall it fit nicely with the "harvest" theme. For Christmas I decided to wrap some tape around it and call it a candy cane. The light up sign says "Noel" and in front of it is our tiny nativity scene carved into a little piece of olive wood. Standing alongside is a Shepard and sheep of burlap and wool that a women from Kyle's mission made. They always sit on our bookshelf, but they seemed too perfect to not display right out in front this Christmas. Not only did shepards go to visit the Christ child, but Christ Himself is the good Shepard. Im grateful to be His sheep.

The star on top of our tree is cut from a paper plate and then covered in tin foil. My whole childhood, we used a`` star that Kirstin, my oldest sister, made in Kindergarten (fact check?). Tin Foil stars hold a special place in my heart I think.

  1. I LOVE THIS! It makes me nostalgic for my own first married Christmas on our own in our tiny apartment. That is a perfect tree. We use a star that I cut out of cardboard 8 years ago and covered in yellow construction paper, with gold glitter on the edges. I don't know how it's still alive and well enough for the tree. Maybe next year I'll try foil! <3 you guys

  2. I'm not sure when I made that foil star...but I don't think it was a kindergarten craft, I think it was moms ideas, and we made it at home. We have always had a foil star, too. :)
